LAUSD High School District Case Study

Products: CUTDOWN®II, SKIMCRETE® XL, SKIMFLOW® ES

The Los Angeles Unified School District, LAUSD High School District #9
Los Angeles, California

One such project requiring moisture protection was High School #9 in The Los Angeles Unified School District. Through the combined efforts of Dependable and a local distributor, CUTDOWN®II, SKIMCRETE® XL (latex modified cement based patch) and SKIMFLOW® ES (latex modified cement based self leveler) were approved for use within their system. The flooring contractor selected the system for use on this project. They had very successful experience with CUTDOWN®II over the years and they count on the distributor and Dependable for the product, service, and warranty.

The flooring contractor is emerging as one of the leading commercial floor covering contractors in the area. They have been focusing on public works projects like schools and healthcare. They use the newest technologies in the floor covering field to help fuel steady growth. Impeccable service is provided from the start of the project to the end of the project.

At LAUSD High School #9, the existing floor covering was removed. The adhesive residue was scraped and then the floor was ground and sanded to provide a clean, solid concrete surface. CUTDOWN®II was applied by roller in 2 coats. SKIMCRETE® XL was then applied to smooth the surface to prepare for the new rubber tile. The selection of CUTDOWN®II provides moisture protection for a fraction of the cost of other moisture reduction systems. CUTDOWN®II has served LAUSD High School well, having been used for the last few years.

The CUTDOWN®II and SKIMCRETE® XL system offers full substrate protection and compatibility. Timing and scheduling work well as the CUTDOWN®II is applied one day followed by the SKIMCRETE® XL and then floor covering installation.
